Here are some important dates for the Spring 2026 semester of Student Teaching.
Remember to follow your school's calendar for holidays and breaks.

| January 4 | Student Teaching begins (follow the calendar of your school) |
| January 4-15* | Continued early field experience *ST will plan & teach one lesson in the class that they will take over first. No supervisory observations during continued early field experience. |
| January 18-22* | Student Teach: begin takeover of class #1 *CT/ST co-teach Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday. ST goes solo Thursday, Friday, and beyond. |
| January 26 | FLTE 478 - Class 1 |
| January 31 | Deadline to apply for the licensure in CoTE Portal! |
| February 1 - March 12 | Supervisor Classroom Observations #1, #2, & #3 |
| February 1-5* | Begin takeover of class #2 *CT/ST co-teach Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday. ST goes solo Thursday, Friday, and beyond. |
| February 9 | FLTE 478 – Class 2 |
| February 11-12 | Career Development Workshop |
| February 22 | Begin full takeover (Begin teaching CT’s full schedule PLUS non-instructional activities: tutoring, advising, etc.) |
| March 8- 12 | Midterm 3-way Conferences |
| March 9 | FLTE 478 – Class 3 |
| March 14 | Midterm assessment deadline: ST, CT, & Supervisor CoTE website upload: www.cote.illinois.edu |
| March 15 - 19 | Spring Break: Champaign-Urbana Schools (Unit #4 & Unit #116) *Follow the calendar for your own district* |
| March 22 - April 23 | Supervisor Classroom Observations #4 & #5 |
| April 13 | FLTE 478 – Class 4 |
| April 26 - 30 | Final Evaluation 3-way Conferences |
| April 26 - 30 | Stepdown (CT takes back classes) To be done over 3 school days; ST releases one class/level at a time. |
| April 30 | Last Day of Student Teaching |
| May 3 - 7 | Student Teaching make-up days (as needed) |
| May 7 | Final evaluation deadline: ST, CT, & Supervisor CoTE website upload: www.cote.illinois.edu Grades submitted to WLTE Director |
| May 15 | School of Literatures, Cultures, and Linguistics (SLCL) Convocation/University of Illinois Commencement |
