The World Language Teacher Education (WLTE) program is proud to congratulate Ellen Ericson on being honored with the 2025 Presidents Award for Building ICTFL from the Illinois Council on the Teaching of Foreign Languages (ICTFL).
Since 1994, ICTFL has annually presented the Presidents Award to members who have distinguished themselves through exceptional service to the organization. The award is given “in honor and memory of the service of past presidents” and recognizes members who have made “significant contributions to the structuring, stability, or image of the Illinois Council on the Teaching of Foreign Languages.”
Ellen currently serves as methodology instructor in the World Language Teacher Education program at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, where she continues to inspire future educators through her dedication to language teaching and professional growth. In addition to her role with WLTE, Ellen teaches Spanish at Mahomet-Seymour High School, where she served as World Language Department Chair.
Ellen was selected for this award through her endless dedication to ICTFL over the years. Among her many roles within the organization, she has served as Regional Director for Region IV of ICTFL, served as President of ICTFL, and currently coordinates the Novice Teacher Support Group, alongside WLTE alumna, Emily Brown. Her leadership, mentorship, and advocacy for world language education exemplify the spirit of this award.
Please join us in congratulating Ellen Ericson on this well-deserved recognition!
