Here are some important dates for the Spring 2025 semester of Student Teaching.
Remember to follow your school's calendar for holidays and breaks.

January 6 | Student Teaching begins (follow the calendar of your school) |
January 6-17* | Continued early field experience *ST will plan & teach one lesson in the class that they will take over first. No supervisory observations during continued early field experience. |
January 21 | FLTE 478 – Class 1 |
January 20-24* | Student Teaching: begin takeover of class #1 *CT/ST co-teach Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday. ST goes solo Thursday, Friday, and beyond. |
January 31 | Last day to apply for licensure in CoTE Portal! |
February 3 - March 14 | Supervisor Classroom Observations #1, #2, & #3 |
February 3-7* | Begin takeover of class #2 *CT/ST co-teach Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday. ST goes solo Thursday, Friday, and beyond. |
February 4 | FLTE 478 – Class 2 |
February 13 | Career Development Workshop (Day 1) |
February 14 | Career Development Workshop (Day 2) |
February 18 | FLTE 478 – Class 3 |
February 24 | Begin full takeover (Begin teaching CT’s full schedule PLUS non-instructional activities: tutoring, advising, etc.) |
March 4 | FLTE 478 – Class 4 |
March 10 - 14 | Midterm 3-way Conferences |
March 16 | Midterm assessment deadline: ST, CT, & Supervisor CoTE website upload: www.cote.illinois.edu |
March 17 - 21 | Spring Break: Champaign-Urbana Schools (Unit #4 & Unit #116) |
March 24 - April 25 | Supervisor Classroom Observations #4 & #5 |
April 28 - May 2 | Final Evaluation 3-way Conferences |
April 28 - May 2 | Stepdown (CT takes back classes) To be done over 3 school days; ST releases one class/level at a time. |
May 2 | Last Day of Student Teaching |
May 5 - 9 | Student Teaching make-up days (as needed) |
May 9 | Final evaluation deadline: ST, CT, & Supervisor CoTE website upload: www.cote.illinois.edu |
May 11 | School of Literatures, Cultures, and Linguistics (SLCL) Convocation/University of Illinois Commencement |
